Apekort

Jeg brukte mye vann slik at fargene fløt over i hverandre.

For å slippe å vente på at bakgrunnen skulle tørke, brukte jeg varmepistol. Så malte jeg figurene. Ballongen fikk litt sølvmaling til slutt.

Teksten er festet til kortet med foam tape.

Narnia Art Journal Page

When I was about 10 years old I was completely smitten by the Chronicles of Narnia. In fact we were a whole generation of Norwegians who grew up in the late 80's/early 90's, who watched the wonderful BBC series on TV. Back in the day most of us only had one TV channel so there wasn't too much to choose between. I remember how we got up early during the Christmas and Easter holidays when the Narnia series was on.

I found a lion stamp and a lamppost die last time I was organising my craft supplies, so I had to make something with a Narnia theme. I don't seem to remember there being any foxes in the original story, but I think there was a badger. Anyway, they look cute next to each other.

I glued a sheet of thin watercolour paper into my Moleskine journal and stamped all the images. I did quite a lot of masking as well.

Then the snowflakes were stamped and embossed with white powder. I coloured the sky with Distress Ink and the images with Zig Clean Color markers.

The lamppost was diecut and I wrote the quote on black cardstock with a white ballpen. I used a yellow pigment ink pad to make some light around the lamppost.

Carnival Card

Here is a birthday card for a girl. This card almost has a bit of a vintage feel to it.

Border dies are great. They can be used as backgrounds for other images, or they can be the main motif, like in this card.

I embossed the clouds with silver pearl powder and die cut the carnival border. I coloured the background with Distress Ink and the rest with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours.

The carnival border is adhered to the card with foam tape and added some pearls and balloons in matching colours for extra dimension and detail.

Deep Ocean Mail

Here is another colourful envelope with a fun ocean theme. It's nice to get mail, especially in bright, watercoloured envelopes! This letter is for a person with young children, and I hope it will be a fun surprise when they look in the mailbox.

First I cut a sheet of thin watercolour paper and made scorelines with an envelope board. Then I wrote the address on the envelope with a waterproof pen.
I stamped the different motives in Distress Ink and coloured them with Inktense pencils and Zig Clean Color markers.
I used a stencil to paint the waves.

Vegan Mail

I like to decorate the envelopes when I send cards in the mail, here is another watercolour envelope. These Tropical Fruit stamps from Darkroom Door are perfect for a fun and cheerful letter with a bit of a summery feel to it which I am sure will be a nice surprise for my brother when he finds it in his mail box.

I used a sheet of thin watercolour paper, scored using an envelope board, rounded the corners and wrote the address with a waterproof Micron pen. The fruit was stamped with Distress Ink. In the end I added details with a paintbrush and more Distress Ink.

I put the envelope inside a plastic pocket to protect it in the mail.

Save the Origami Animals

Here is a card which is somewhat different from the one layer cards I usually make.

The Darkroom Door World Map stamp is one of my absolute favourites. I got this idea of placing origami or geometric animals around on the map as a "save the environment" theme, which is a very important topic that we should all consider more often.

First I stamped the map on watercolour paper.
The animal stamps were a little too big, so I drew smaller versions of them with a black fine liner on patterned paper and cut them out.

I coloured the map with Distress Ink,  wrote the text on black cardstock with a white ballpoint pen and put all the tiny pieces into my Xyron sticker maker, which made them easy to adhere to the card.

Stempel: Fallen Leaves - Darkroom Door

Die: Gratulerer - Papirdesign

Birthday Cat

This birthday card is a combination of two different styles, the vintage flowers from Tim Holtz and the funky art style cat from MFT.

Birthday cards are so much fun to make! This one is bright and colourful, and would also be suitable for a child.

I stamped all the images in Versafine, embossed them and masked them off before I coloured the background with Distress Ink. Then I coloured the images with Zig Clean Color markers.

Then I die cut the sentiment "congratulations" from glitter cardstock. The text is attached to the card with foam tape.

Easter Animals

It's almost time for Easter! I wanted to make a cute card with a touch of Spring to it. The card is one-layer only, nothing is glued onto the card, except the sentiment.

I like using my stamps in original ways. This card was made with Christmas stamps, the Easter egg is actually a Christmas ornament turned upside-down. The fox and the bunny came from another Christmas stamp set, and the chick is a bird from the W Plus 9 Party Animal set.

The background is a photo stamp from Darkroom Door, a scene from Central Park in New York.

First I masked off the egg and animals before I stamped the background and coloured it with Distress Ink.

Then I stamped the egg in dye ink and the critters in black Versafine and embossed with clear powder.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark ink and embossed with white powder.
